How do I get POP and SMTP configured?

David

Hi David,
To set up POP/SMTP with Yahoo! Mail, please see these help pages: http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/mail/classic/manage/index.html#pop. Remember you must have signed up under the UK Terms of Service, if you signed up under the US terms of service, you will have to sign up to Mail Plus.
Thanks,
Andrew - Yahoo! Mail Team

I am not thick or stupid. However whenever I try to get a ymail or rocketmail site I am directed back to the existing yahoo site. This process is not user friendly - it sucks.

I have been having trouble with my password failing and locking me out of my NTL email. I have now opened a yahoo email account, which was originally for keeping my name private after enquiries from companies, etc.

I would now like to have an additional account with my own name for contacting friends and family. I understand I can only have one Yahoo email account, so how do I have another account without switching between providers? Do I have to use Google or Hotmail for an alternate account, or is it better to wait for NTL to resolve the problem on my existing account with them?

Dear All, I can see you all going ga ga over yahoo's Trueswitch application. Has anyone used it recently?. I have used it a month ago for four of my accounts in Gmail to transfer the messages to the newly created four yahoo accounts. After some mails were transfered, Yahoo posted a notice stating" Unusual Activity Detected. To protect you, your account has been suspended from sending, saving, and receiving mail for up to 48 hours."
Consider following points:
1) Yahoo is incapable of identifying the activity of its own software and suspends the account considering the transfer as "Spamming".
2) The lock-down is not really for 48 hours as mentioned in the bright yellow notice but now it has been one month that my accounts have been suspended.
3) Yahoo help is a shame on the yahoo technical staff since whenever I complained about the matter, I was sent a template signed by one Mr. "George" which advises me to seek solution in the yahoo answers.
4) If I have to search for solutions in the yahoo answers it implies that either there is nothing like a "Yahoo technical staff team" which can read and solve the matter or yahoo doesn't really care for the users and hence those who say YUCK to Gmail, please reconsider. All my three yahoo accounts are now locked for one one month dur to trueswitch and Yahoo has NEVER helped despite complaining repeatedly. Is this what you would call service?

I am quite amused to read your experiences but mine has been a disastrous one and I am really sorry but i cannot give full marks to yahoo for services. Any one who can help me lift the suspension since there is NO way I can get any help from yahoo.

I have moved from a yahoo.co.uk to a ymail.com address

Will the ability to transfer Calendar items be reinstated ? Also can I transfer my RSS feeds that I have associated with my old yahoo.co.uk account to my new ymail.com account ?

Otherwise a very smooth transition, congrats

thanks

Are you able to answer my query Andrew or are you overlooking because there is not a positive answer ;0)

Thanks

----
Hi Akalu,
To answer your question above, we don't ask our UK users to pay for the POP/SMTP feature. We also don't ask our UK users to pay for the throw-away addresses feature: http://ymailuk.com/blog1/2008/07/31/addressguard/
In fact, if you read German, Yahoo was just named the #1 Webmail service by Computerbild magazine in Germany: http://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cb-Tests-Test-News-Test-News-yahoo.de_3109001.html

IMAP is not a feature of Yahoo! Mail yet (with the exception of mobile devices), so we are not asking users to pay for that. I hope, like many of you, in the future we will be able to offer IMAP service in addition to POP/SMTP.

Sorry to not respond sooner, there are a lot of comments/questions and, unfortunatlely, I can't answer each and every one.
Thanks,
Andrew - Yahoo Mail Team
