Updated: retrieving from external accounts

Update: The issue outlined below has been fixed by our engineers and has been rolled out to all mail users. If you get your mail from an external client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) you should no longer experience this issue. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Some of you are reporting that you are getting the following error when trying to get your mail from external accounts: “Server XXX is busy. Another POP session may be active. Please try again later.”
Our engineers have investigated the issue and found the root cause of the problem. A fix will be rolling out shortly. When it has finished rolling out I will update this post to let you know. It takes a little while to get the fix out since it has to be pushed to so many different servers, so some of you may find the problem is fixed right away, while others may find it takes a bit longer.
Sorry you are experiencing the issue. You can always use the Web version until the issue is fully fixed.

i have difficulty sending mail through my Microsoft outlook i always get this error message “Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject ‘Test mail’, Account: ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, Server: ’smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0×800CCC0F”. Could you help to solve it

Just registerd with new ymail.com, but cannot retrieve my emails with Eudora ver 7. I can send email through it, but cannot retrieve. The used server name is: pop.mail.yaho.co.uk
What can be the problem?

Try typing in the entire email address as your username. For example: user_name@ymail.com.

Similar problem ever since Friday I have been unable to send mail using my two Yahoo accounts (one uses Outlook, the other Windows Mail). Both give me the same message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Subject ‘Test Message’, Account: ‘xxxxxxxx’, Server: ’smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, Protocol: SMTP, Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0×800CCC0F
It happens whether I log on with just the username or whether I use @yahoo.co.uk at the end. Any ideas? It worked last week . . .

fusing outlook I get the following error message.
An unknown error was returned from the SMTP server. Subject ‘wheels’, Account: ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, Server: ’smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: ‘521 yahoo.com closing transmission channel. Set SMTP and POP settings to “Regular” (port 25 for SMTP, and port 110 for POP) instead of “TLS” (port 465 & 995).
