Not too long ago, we celebrated the birthday of Yahoo! Mail. I still can’t believe that it’s already been 10 years. And as you read through that previous post, you’ll notice as time has passed, we’ve been improving and updating the Classic version of Yahoo! Mail in order to give you the best experience and most popular Web-mail in the world.

More changes on the way…
With the recent focus on all of the great features of the all-new Yahoo! Mail, quite a number of you have been asking “what’s the future of Yahoo! Mail Classic?”, and asking whether or not you’ll be forced to switch to the new version. Let me first say that we have no intention of retiring Yahoo! Mail Classic, and you will always have the choice of which version you want to use.

That being said, the Classic team has been working tirelessly to tune the technology behind Yahoo! Mail Classic as well as working on new features that will go a long way to - if I can use the term – ‘improve on a Classic’.

So what’s changing?
There’s a lot happening with Yahoo! Mail Classic. Some new features are being added, some changed and some removed. Over the years, we’ve been listening to your comments and what to you’ve been requesting as well as taking a look at some of the stuff you just don’t ever use. So I wanted to list here just some of the highlights that you’ll be seeing over the coming weeks:

- Auto-save to Draft - Yahoo! Mail Classic now automatically saves a copy of the message you’re working on in your Drafts folder in case you lose your internet connection or your computer malfunctions.
Updated Classic Mail- Simpler uploading and downloading attachments - In most cases, downloading now requires just one click!
- One-Click Flagging - The new Flag column (just one column to the right of the check-boxes) makes it super easy to flag messages.
- Folder Renaming - Rename and delete your personal folders directly within the folder view.
- More Intuitive Names - References to “Address Book” have been changed to “Contacts”, and your “Bulk” folder will instead be called “Spam” (since that’s what it is).

There’s even more than what I’ve listed here. For the full list of changes, check out the “What’s different…” page within the help pages of the new Classic version.

When will these changes happen?
To be honest, some of you may already be seeing these new Classic Mail features. But most of you will see these changes arrive in Classic over the next few weeks. You can tell if you’ve got the updates by looking at the image above. If you see the features outlined in red, then you have the updates.

As always, happy emailing!!
Andrew – Yahoo! Mail Team

i’m glade to improve my yahoo mail

  • 2. j.fastnedge  |  May 28th, 2008 at 10:21 am

Why have you removed smtp with mail classic? Because I can no longer send via Outlook Express (and I dont wish to pay for the upgrade to Plus) I have gone over to Google mail which is free to send on smtp……..your loss!
Bad move Yahoo! and because you were my Broadband email default, I am now looking to change that as well…. great shame because you were very good service up until 2/3 months ago.

    Your comments would be appreciated!

  • 3. Pam Guy  |  May 28th, 2008 at 11:14 am

I have devised a signature but I can’t get rid of it. It always jumps back to the original.

The Inbox list and Sent list are now in double line spacing. I have the text size at largest and that seems to be the problem. It never used to be like that.

How do I know what font I am using or the size of the print when composing an e.mail. Is it related to Internet Options.

  • 4. Helen  |  May 28th, 2008 at 11:29 am

can you please tell me what has happened to my avitar I have just logged on and it’s not there and it was a week ago.
I have no idea how to get it back.
    many thanks
    Helen

  • 5. E. Arbuthnot  |  May 28th, 2008 at 11:30 am

You have removed features which are essential in public internet centres - e.g. Printer View, the option of default full headers, marking sent emails as unread until we have saved them to our memory sticks or mobile hard discs etc. This is completely unacceptable, and you did not need to do it because you could easily have left them as an option.

Not only so, but when people have complained about it you have told them that you are ‘excited’ to have made our lives so difficult; you have told people who are thoroughly miserable with the changes that they will ‘love’ them

  • 6. Juliet  |  May 28th, 2008 at 12:51 pm

I appreciate the new innovations of Yahoo. Keep it up.

  • 7. Pete  |  May 28th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Can I have my avatar back please?

  • 8. elaine  |  May 28th, 2008 at 2:50 pm

I hate the new look as I have no idea how to compose an email!!! For some reason I can put in the name and subject - though the name no longer comes up as far as I can see I need to type in the whole address! but the cursor will nto go down to the box for the narrative - BRING BACK THE OLD WAY - for us oldies!!

  • 9. Frank Zanteba  |  May 28th, 2008 at 8:45 pm

I just love the new improvements man!

  • 10. cyn  |  May 28th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

  • 12. mercy safari  |  May 29th, 2008 at 8:29 am

Bravo Yahoo! You are wonderful…….keep up the good job!

  • 13. Carol  |  May 29th, 2008 at 9:53 am

I appear to have lost the bulk folder and the spam folder is getting a lot more work, does this mean I may lose emails having a spam filter on.

  • 14. Michael Owen-Smith  |  May 29th, 2008 at 10:09 am

why am i unable to bring up e-mail contacts when doing an e-mail,is this because of the up grades or am i just thick?

  • 15. Pam  |  May 29th, 2008 at 1:07 pm

Frankly I agree with most of the above comments. You have changed the things people used and wanted… by removing them and your new things are either not what most want .. or just window dressing. I stuck with Classic as many did because it WAS what I needed… now… I will seriously consider finding a mail that is as good as Yahoo WAS.

  • 16. Mykasa Paul  |  May 29th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Have just read the new innovations and I should say that I applaud you for your bravery and the desire to always produce the best. Regards.

  • 17. Sunita  |  May 29th, 2008 at 4:18 pm

I’m absolutely thrilled with the auto save feature of msg mails. I’ve been losing so many msg.s half way that it was turning into sa night mare! Thank you for thisi nnovation.
Any way I would like to have someof theefault headers back for compose & reply both.
I’ve inadvertly given my e-mail ID to an astro site, ths has resulted in an inflow of spam & phishing mails. How to block these? I changed my password immediately in 2/3hr.s

  • 18. John(Chinsky)  |  May 30th, 2008 at 9:56 am

The features are out standing.Keep it up.

  • 19. Sandra  |  May 30th, 2008 at 2:24 pm

  • 22. taff waite  |  May 30th, 2008 at 3:05 pm

    As the old saying goes,
IF ITS NOT BROKE ,DONT FIX IT.

  • 23. ste  |  May 30th, 2008 at 4:23 pm

I like the changes, but there doesn’t appear to be an option where you can change the size of text when composing emails as ‘plain text.’
The text size is far too small, and hurts my eyeballs.

  • 24. Margo Parsons  |  May 30th, 2008 at 7:29 pm

Like the new lay out on Yahoo except that when you go into the addresses and add from catergory for emails it will only come up with the name of the catergory and not whats in it! So I now have to add all the email addresses of friends to my forwarding emails individually, not very good!!

  • 25. Janet Hawkes  |  May 30th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

My emails seem to have gone very small, I can’t see most of them as they are very feint.
Whats gone wrong, giive me back my old Yahoo.

    Its horrible

  • 26. Tina Jannello  |  May 31st, 2008 at 9:34 am

A friend has told me that the last couple of emails I’ve sent to him are unreadable as the format continues across the page…..has anyone else been told this when they send an email to someone?? I havent had this problem before!

  • 27. Linda  |  June 1st, 2008 at 8:15 am

Can’t write emails anymore as there is no box to put the narrative in. Also can’t move emails to other boxes as only have two boxes now, delete and spam. How do I send an email now?

  • 28. jen  |  June 1st, 2008 at 8:42 am

please put yahoo mail back to its original classic view as i hate it now, consider us oldies WE DON’T LIKE CHANGE.

  • 29. Paul  |  June 1st, 2008 at 9:48 am

As with other commentators - what have you done to my email? Classic without so-called improvements was exactly what I required. Now I have nothing! All I get is the header information - no text. I’m looking around for soemthing else to meet my needs now. Don’t bother contacting me - I can’t read what is sent.

  • 30. colin mackenzie  |  June 1st, 2008 at 10:38 am

i agree with a lot of the others that the old way was better as you could see at a glance what was happening now you have a lot more work . if like me and a lot of others you work long hours then the extra work is a pain

  • 31. Morgan  |  June 1st, 2008 at 11:25 am

Horrible. I hate the new Classic. I have had the same experience of being told I will “love” the changes in response to contacting Yahoo to say I loathe them. Why couldn’t you at least have made them optional? The ONLY good thing is the auto-save of drafts. I have been paying for a Plus account for seven years. I don’t want news on my front page. I don’t want to have to confirm that I want to delete mail items from the (now) Spam folder. I despise the new layout and font. I am seriously considering ditching my Yahoo account for gmail, and I never thought I would say that.

  • 32. Omodii Alex  |  June 1st, 2008 at 2:14 pm

I appreciate the services of yahoo classic,it is much more faster, simple to use and is my favourite but it could be good if spam mails are automatically regulated as yahoomail classic seem to be getting congested nowadays.

  • 33. M Bhandal  |  June 1st, 2008 at 2:16 pm

    Hi

The improvements to Yahoo Mail Classic are very good but as a result I seem to have experienced an increased in the number of Spam message delivered not to the spam folder but my inbox. I am regularly deleting 20-30 items out of inbox which never occured before last week. I have spoken to a number of other Yahoo users in my family and they seem to have experienced the same. What’s changed? if something has could you change it back please. Thanx!

  • 34. Laura  |  June 1st, 2008 at 3:53 pm

What has happend to my avatar? I really enjoyed changing her and now i don’t know where she’s gone!

I really don’t like the new yahoo! it’s quite confusing and to be honest i prefered it the way it was!

  • 35. alan  |  June 1st, 2008 at 8:01 pm

    this is rubbish

  • 36. Trevor Grayson  |  June 1st, 2008 at 9:39 pm

Another old saying, MOVE WITH THE TIMES.

  • 37. Cipriana  |  June 2nd, 2008 at 12:11 am

Loved the autosave! VERY good idea. I realized my Avatar is gone, but that is no major loss…. Oh, and I also like the Signature change. It used to appear way down at the bottom of the page when I replied, and now it´s nicely tucked at the top right under the little space for my message. I tried the New Yahoo but found it too heavy for my connection, and too complicated. Some of us like it simple, ALWAYS.
    Cheers Yahoo.

  • 38. Dr. Baljeet Singh Saharan  |  June 2nd, 2008 at 8:39 am

    It has solved the problem

  • 39. Lord Cornelius  |  June 2nd, 2008 at 8:49 am

I have been very pleased with your services so far but I am glad you people are opening a new page for innovations and better servces.

  • 46. Patrick  |  June 2nd, 2008 at 9:11 pm

    Leave well enough alone

  • 47. jewels  |  June 2nd, 2008 at 11:22 pm

    hello yahoo
i am not very keen on the new mail and why have you remove all our avatars ? please let me know and how is the spam folder better??? and i dont like the singature being on the top every time i want to write a message it is there and i have to delet it. so that could be change other then that i like yahoo. has many cool stuff.

  • 48. Chris Ward  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 3:35 am

Prefer the old system. Why does spam never work? Once I click on spam It should stop bad mail from returning but they keep coming back like boomerangs, should this be so? My wife is with another e-mailing company, well known, and seems to get a better spamming system and greater protection.

  • 49. Jacqueline  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 7:17 am

Please, I want my Avitar back.
    What to do?

  • 50. dave manton  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 8:09 am

  • 51. lexie  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 10:01 am

classic is the best. what happened to it and can i please have it back

  • 52. jesudaju  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 11:07 am

I have not been able to attach files to outgoing mails since the new format came. How do you solve this problem for me since it is critical to my business ?

  • 53. Norman  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 12:09 pm

Please stop changing a perfectly working system, nothing functions correctly anymore, in line forwards fail to operate, reply to sender or multi replies fail, acknowledged by a yahoo information script that is never responded to, despite giving suggested resolutions…. Stop the changes now! You still have a customer base, you won’t in another week.

  • 54. Rama Gowda  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 4:54 pm

You have removed an icon from Inbbox which tells if the sender is already in our Addressbook or not. That way we can ascertain if that who the sender is.

  • 55. kwadwo amo osei  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 4:58 pm

    very improved version

  • 56. Joan Dugan  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 6:06 pm

Thanks for your honest admission that sometimes we get it wrong. The chairman of Ryanair, our cheapest and most profitable airline here in Eire (and a very astute business man, I might add!) admitted today that he failed to hedge his bet on the price of airplane fuel back in February when it was $80 a barrel…OOPS! Michael O’Leary, and maybe a small OOPS! to you as well. But keep on keepin’ on cause you guys and gals are the best weavers in the web!!!!! Oh, by the way, I didn’t get on well with the “All New” either. But look at all the improvements you’re making to the aul Classic as a result of your OOPS!. You’re right on the mark and quick to respond - grand altogether!!!!!

  • 57. Sally  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 7:09 pm

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the avatars! I used to spend ages choosing outfits and hairstyles! I am begging you to restore this feature!

  • 58. Ken  |  June 3rd, 2008 at 7:30 pm

In mail, when selecting all messages and hitting delete, there normally ( in the past ) pops up an are you sure box as a safeguard, and you could cancel if in error. Now that no longer appears and all mails are deleted immediately. BUT it still works in the spam folder ??

Also i really needed the select ’show messages from people in my contacts’ option. Now it’s gone, have you put back icons next to the in contacts list. Not a good move really cos now i have to scroll through all the mail pages to see anybody from my contacts that are important instead of looking at them as a priority in a single window view.

As people have said, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.– look what they did with lemon curd, they brought out a new improved flavour, removed the original forever and it’s bloody awful.

    Ken

    Looks and feels good!

  • 60. phoebe  |  June 4th, 2008 at 7:21 am

i want my avatar back what can i do?

  • 61. S.J.Shashikumar  |  June 4th, 2008 at 9:06 am

Iam comfortable with the old format of yahoo. inovation is welcome on the existing format.

  • 62. Iouri  |  June 4th, 2008 at 9:13 am

Very bad move indeed; You added some new features which are NOT essential and you removed some features which ARE essential, for example the possibility to choose one’s encoding. Now it is only Unicode and all the mesages I had in Cyrillic are unreadable!!!

will move to some other free mail service. Pity, you was my e-mail service for ages.

    You should have at least given the possibility to stay with OLD Yahoo classic and NOT to move to a new one;

  • 63. tina james  |  June 4th, 2008 at 10:00 am

please i will like to know more about avitar

  • 64. Dave  |  June 4th, 2008 at 10:39 am

What would be nice is filtering out *.pif files. I know yahoo have been using pif files and there is no need whatsoever for this.
It’s shoddy and makes yahoo look like lycos (cough).

Furthermore, I changed from the Beta product due to the slowness and bugs. It seems your talking everything that was in Beta Mail and just giving it to the classic users. why?
Don’t you think there is/was a reason why people moved or stayed put?

I really don’t understand Yahoo these days, They just don’t seem to get it at all. *sigh*

  • 65. Marco  |  June 4th, 2008 at 1:05 pm

I totally quote Mr. Arbuthnot “You have removed features [...] Printer View, the option of default full headers, marking sent emails as unread until we have saved them to our memory sticks … “.
This is nonsense, many people were sticking to “classic” exactly because they did NOT want to changes and because evidently “classic” provided what they needed. Not only you took features out (without warning or even mentioning it afterwards), but as many noted we are also getting tons and tons of new spam in the process!
And since we are at it, could we please have back the “quickbuilder”, one of the most useful features ever, which disappeared mysteriously overnight months ago without any mention anywhere (including online help) and which disappearance your customer support will not acknowledge? (I know this sounds ludicrous, but upon asking them where the quickbuilder went they repeatedly sent me copies of the old online help and directions to the button which of course was not there anymore).

  • 66. boozie  |  June 4th, 2008 at 6:26 pm

what happened to the ’sign out’ link on top of yahoo mail…

i can’t see it and it’s driving me crazy!!!

i hate you for this yahoo!!! and my sexy avatar is dead?!!!!

gmail is the way forward people!…. time to move on..

    Hi Boozie,
I’m sorry you’re not seeing the sign-out link. It should be right next to your username at the very top of your broswer window. If you are using the all-new Yahoo mail, it’s right under your username.

I miss the avatar too :(.
    Thanks,
    Andrew - Yahoo! Mail Team

  • 70. Sheraz  |  June 5th, 2008 at 10:21 am

    Hi Yahoo!

The changes seemed to useful for a bunch of people, but most of them were indulged and mezmerized with the old one.
If i had to vote, I will vote for the old one; having lots of small things that counts :-)
But, m not against changes.. so u can carry on! If its not changing.. it means its dead :-) But please bring the things we are missing..
    Peace!

  • 71. mikael  |  June 5th, 2008 at 11:05 am

I have problems when searching my mailbox in yahoo classic, I enter the search word in the search field but the result is too often zero! Something is wrong with new mail classic

  • 75. Phil  |  June 5th, 2008 at 5:32 pm

Have just come to yahoo from orange What a difference. Much better and quicker. Thanks

  • 76. mandee  |  June 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm

i don’t want my spam mail to just be deleted, i want to report it as spam, i don’t like this! just inundated every day with spam and usually the same things over and over and over again!not good

  • 77. Ros  |  June 6th, 2008 at 3:08 pm

Please can you have an option whereby you can keep the emails stored in the DRAFTS folder even after they have been sent. The new Yahoo mail automatically deletes drafts once they have been sent. This is really annoying, if like me, you have to send out loads of standard emails again and again to different people. Now I have to retype them everytime I send them.

  • 78. Don  |  June 6th, 2008 at 6:10 pm

By upgrading classic you are infact forcing the new yahoo mail on us. Those of us opting to stay with the classic do so because we like it and are familiar with it. We dont want to upgrade because we dont want to have to work out all the new variables.

Leave well enough alone, or I will go back to Hotmail.

  • 79. chinedu  |  June 7th, 2008 at 2:18 pm

  • 80. C. holborn  |  June 7th, 2008 at 3:57 pm

For the last week or so my yahoo mail has been defaulting to something called Y! obviously designed for youngsters. Although I can get my mails I cannot manage them easily, as I have to do far more and many clcks before I get something done. I wanted to create a new folder but the option “New folder” is not there, The reply box doesn’t allow me to see the text I’m replying to at the same time. The whole thing is a complete waste of time. I have already asked how to get back to the adult professional version, but received no reply. Please before I move to another provider, tell me how to create a new folder. Thanks

  • 81. becky  |  June 7th, 2008 at 4:55 pm

where has the avater’s gone??? i miss them :’(

  • 82. Claire  |  June 7th, 2008 at 7:14 pm

Improvements are always good and most of them okay, however I am going to be a girl and complain about my Avatar disapearing … Sometimes I change them between emails, you know, the little things in life…plus the screen now looks boring without it now.

  • 83. Zanna  |  June 8th, 2008 at 7:16 am

It a good thing to make changes, but for oldes is very difficult to know what is been changed and how to used, many times I am confused, then I use another languge my mother tong is not English, I have to delete lots of mails….cause the decoding was not working …. till I recognised the new method,so I am not happy as I was befor with Yahoo….I am pacient but how long ….I might change to another option…sorry to say so….regards

  • 84. Thomas  |  June 9th, 2008 at 11:29 am

classic was fine as it was—you removed features we used and added irrelevant ones. My signature is suddenly too long?? it does not say what the maximum is. This is largely change for the sake of change.
It seems that i am not the only one who is seriously not pleased–how about doing a survey and devising a classic that includes the features people/users actually want!?

  • 85. John  |  June 9th, 2008 at 1:14 pm

    Dear Yahoo,

    There is an old adage:

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it“.

What was wrong with the old Yahoo Mail Classic? We were given the choice of the new Yahoo Mail format or the old ‘Classic’, but everyone I know tried and hated the new look Yahoo Mail and reverted back to Classic. Now you insist on messing about with that.

Do you actually ask those of us who use it? Indeed do you actually read and reply to those of us who take the time to write reviews and feedback and suggestions? I have yet to find an actual email address to contact Yahoo and get a human response, rather than an infuriating auto reply which never answers the query.

Rather than adding little tweaks to already existing and perfectly good systems, why don’t you tackle the really important issues, for example Spam on Yahoo Mail. I have several accounts, most of which are given free but Yahoo is always telling us how much they are doing to combat this kind of invasion of our privacy, yet I receive more spam, etc than any other free or paid for account I use.

On top of this, one of the sites which desperately needs investigating and shaking up is Yahoo Answers. This site I am assuming was set up to help people in need of answers or advice on personal problems. It is allowed to run with apparently no moderation from either Yahoo themselves or subscriber moderators.

People are allowed to post questions and/or answers, but those of us cannot see what those Qs or As are because the person posting does not allow it. So whets the point of that?

The ‘Report’ system appears to be automated and because of this questions and answers which should never be permitted to remain on public view because of the filthy language (even with the Yahoo’s filter system), abuse of others, harassment, etc, are allowed to remain, but perfectly acceptable and helpful answers are deleted.

When a ‘Report’ is submitted obviously no one actually reads them because on the occasion I have felt it necessary to report a post I have asked, in fact, begged Yahoo Answers to get back to me. I am still waiting.

I love nearly all aspects of Yahoo and am grateful that they supply many free services, but in the case of Yahoo Answers , this site is degrading into a site which will only attract the unwanted element and those of us who genuinely want to help people will simply leave and those who need our help will not be able to get it.

Yahoo Answers has the potential to be the No.1 Q&A site on the Internet but at the moment it is not the most pleasant place to go for help, or to help.

I know I will not get a response from Yahoo to this post but unless you actually start reading and listening to your subscribers, especially Yahoo Answers, I feel sure the Yahoo reputation will suffer.

Why don’t you actually speak to those of us who use your services and get their views and ideas on what they would like to see.

I know most of this post is nothing to do with Yahoo Mail, but I am still living in hope that there are some humans working at Yahoo HQ and some do care about those of us who help Yahoo to get their billions, and listen to their suggestions and more importantly their pleas.

Thanks to your changes i can no longer send emails. Each time i try i get a problem message regarding format. Please sort it out as i’m going round in circles on message boards and getting nowhere.

i would suggest that in future if you are going to make changes then you do so with no disruption to the user.

One more point, if i wanted to save my drafts i would do. Now i’m spending time deleting drafts i can’t even send anywhere.

  • 87. Udo  |  June 10th, 2008 at 9:00 am

When I type in the name of a contact, it used to show the email-addresses for that contact in the same order as I did put them into the contact details. It new sorts them, which I don’t like.

Why isn’t there a way to hide the cc line? I never use it.

Please don’t delete my draft after I send it. Sometimes I want to send a standard email to different persons.
Yahoo was the only one that has had this great feature.
It isn’t shown as unread anymore either.

I like the single-click download function. This will save a lot of time.

Can the News Module (Top Stories, Sport, Entertainment, Finance) be changed into what’s on My Yahoo page (weather, bookmarks, note to self)?

Why can I no longer print e-mails received ?
I like to keep family ones on file manually.

    Hi there,
You should always be able to print an email. There is a “Print” link just above your email if you’re viewing the email in classic. If you’re using the all-new mail there is a button labeled “Print” at the top of your mailbox.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

I’m not happy with the changes. I prefer the scroll option and marker squares on the old one. I Prefer the old one back.

Why mess about with something that works?Leave classic alone and if I want to “upgrade” to something else make it a different version likr that nightmare beta I have on my blackberry

The most annoying thing for me is your times stated on emails. You tell me the time an email was sent 04.50am when it was 6pm It is as if your clock is 12hrs out. I have now started to type the time of sending in the subject box so as people can see when it was sent!

  • 93. lella  |  June 11th, 2008 at 4:17 am

The thing that saves your messages to draft is a great idea and I am very thankful for it but why have you taken away the avetars??? I think it should be optional if you change the email at all because I was really happy with it before and it’s kind of annying that you changed it.

    Thanks for your time.

  • 94. Jade  |  June 11th, 2008 at 4:22 am

What have you done with the Avetars???????!!!!!!!!! I totally agree with Lella, you should ask before you change!!!!!

  • 95. Celia  |  June 11th, 2008 at 7:23 am

Thanks Iam a yahoo.classic and will remain a yahoomail classic always as long as the quality and standard remains the same high quality

  • 96. adeshola  |  June 11th, 2008 at 3:04 pm

I have absolutely nothing against change. Why not “change”, if it’s all about improved services. Ride on yahoo!

  • 97. france  |  June 12th, 2008 at 2:05 am

Before when I used to type in an email address, into the address / cc/bcc box - as i started typing - so Yahoo would remember the persons address, from previous mailings.. and have a guess at it.. this was very useful.

Now I have to go back and research any emails addresses, (taht I have not added to my contacts) - or, ? add every single person I correspond with to my contacts.. and then go and retrieve them for each area of my every email.. I find this very clumsy.

? Why does it just not remember email addresses as before..
or are we being forced to add all our possible contacts to our address book?

    Hi
Please could we have an option where we can use different backgrounds to our emails like Incredimail. They use to be my email server but since switching over to SKY for our internet they I can no longer send outgoing emails via incredimail which is why I had to switch to Yahoo but I really reallly miss the backgrounds that you get with incredimail who, I think, are the best email providers ever and they dont have advertisements popping up everywhere either like Yahoo do!!

  • 99. Brian  |  June 13th, 2008 at 1:13 am

I hate the new classic. It has doubled my work load. It doesn;t give enough of an email title, so I have to open every one to see what in the world is in there. Its very trying.

  • 100. hossam  |  June 25th, 2008 at 2:53 pm

    its very nice

  • 101. James Knighton  |  June 25th, 2008 at 3:20 pm

When you asked us to fill in your survey you asked us about classic & I said dont change it. Looks like im not in a minority by hating it. Why do people have to change things just for changes sake & why did you ask what we thought only to totally ignore us.We may be in the 21st century but 1 thing that will NEVER change is that Customers (us out here in cyberspace) make paydays possible. PUT IT BACK TO HOW IT WAS!!!

Hi since the ‘New’ updated yahoo email account can somebody please explain to me why my accunt now wont work. I run on MAC OS and yahoo has been fab, well untill they aparently improved it! Now I cant send emails as my account says all the addresses are invalid……why did you have to change without warning the users of the system first?!
I have tried the help section and have got bored of the same answers that get me no closer to solving it. Do you really think that the surgestion that I change my operating system just so i can use Yahoo is a reallistic one?!!!
    Anyone else in my position?

  • 103. Mo  |  June 26th, 2008 at 12:25 am

I use both yahoo classic and the new classic. For me , its about choosing the option that I want to use when I want to use it. Some people can be so fixated on the things they are used to and are afraid of change… tough. Technology is evolving and sometimes we need to move on.

  • 104. cat  |  June 26th, 2008 at 8:10 am

I have two additional accounts: yahoo and ymail, but I have difficulty checking my mails from these two accounts using the feature in the New Yahoo Mail. Please provide the POP mail server for both yahoo and ymail. Thank you.

Why do I have to now look up manually all my e.mail addresses? I just used to type in my nickname and up it came. It takes ages to go into Contact List and find the one. I can’t memorise all of them. I’m cheesed off!

  • 106. missie  |  June 26th, 2008 at 4:07 pm

kudos to the planning committee of yahoo mail classic who decide quickly to anwer unflagged but reasonable questions of their customers. I particularly, I have been expecting these miracles to happen since the advent of yahoo mail beta which make us complain a little bit as per some disadvantages we experience there. We will be very appreciative if the work is quickly completed to let us enjoy yahoo classic more better even best than all mail provider in the world. I wish you best of the best.
Sky is your limit but you make us belief you can easily go beyound the sky to expoit what is good for us there.

  • 108. Angie  |  June 27th, 2008 at 11:57 am

Sorry to raise a silly point but I always seem to have difficulties viewing e-mails which contain pictures, if I download the attachments, I still can’t merge the text with the pictures - what should I do?

    Thanks

  • 109. webuser  |  July 3rd, 2008 at 10:44 pm

j.fastnedge - I dont get people like you and comments like “your loss!” lets be honest, like Yahoo care about a freeloader like you - if a service is worth having surely it is worth paying for - why cant you spend the £10 a year for the good service that you know and love and that £10 will be almost certainly be spent making it even better - a small price for a great service I think most people would agreee. Either that or dont complain about the options in the free version, after all Yahoo are a business.
