Happy New Year!!
January 1st, 2008
Wow, what a year!! I for one had a great 2007 and am certainly looking forward to 2008. Last year, I celebrated 8 years of marriage and because of my birthday this year I now put a 0 (zero) as the second digit. I’m not saying how old, let’s just say I’m older than 10 and younger than 100.
For all of us here on the Yahoo! Mail team, this was a great year too. Some fantastic innovations came through; I thought I’d just recap some of the amazing things that we achieved.
Instant Chat within Mail – I announced this amazing feature in March with this post that gave you a sneak peek, told you how to turn it off in June, and then in October we integrated the ability to chat with Windows Live Messenger. To me, this is one of the greatest things to come along since sliced bread, and if you haven’t tried it yet I definitely encourage you to do so.
Unlimited Storage – What more is there to say? I told you that you no longer have to worry about being over the limit in March. But I thought it bears repeating, so here goes… With Yahoo Mail you get unlimited storage!! You never again have to worry about filling up your inbox to the limit.
The All-new Yahoo! Mail – On the surface, it doesn’t seem big. But dig a little deeper and this is huge. In September, we took the word “beta” off and now it’s just the all-new Yahoo! Mail. And shortly after that Yahoo! Mail turned 10 years old! (I’m still just a little bit older).
This Blog – I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my posts over the past year. I’ve tried to keep it fun, fresh and informative. This year, I changed the look, added a mail tips section here and here, and in the New Year, I hope to be able to post some tips from you the reader.
All-in-all, I think you have to admit, it’s been a pretty good year. Oh, and watch this space in 2008, there’s plenty more to come!!!
Happy emailing and Happy New Year!!!
Andrew – Yahoo! Mail Team

Andrew,
Best wishes to the Yahoo team for 2008.
The new Yahoo mail with integrated Messenger is very good. Not sure what you could do this year to top that!
Thanks,
Richard

Hi Cleonie,
I can’t tell you what to join, or what not to join, as that is based on personal preference. However, please be aware that the lotto is most probably a phishing scam. I’ve written a post about the lottery scams that are going around via email. You can read it here: http://ymailuk.com/blog1/2007/11/20/yahoo-lottery/
Thanks,
Andrew

You say on your home page that I can import my contacts and old mail from other acounts. Not true. I tried but failed to do so because my old acount is not included in the drop down menu. Perhaps you can do something about this. My old email address is carnamuhhagh @eircom.net.
Thanks in anticipation,
Jim Colclough

Hi Andrew, I think what the Yahoo team has done is mind boggling - fantastic. There is only one thing that I am devistated about, I mean really shot to pieces about, and that is the said closure of Yahoo 360, it is so user friendly, simple interface, easy to find friends. I have been searching for a new blogsite but nothing compares for me and I have lost contact with most of the wonderful people I met on 360 — very very sad and sorry to see it go. Cant you steal it back!!!?
